Not a Good Day

The last 4 or 5 days we've been having some issues with our sump pump in the basement. Sometimes it would run and not shut off, other times it wouldn't come on at all. Paul replaced it yesterday and all seemed fine. Seemed fine! It was working the way it should when we went to bed last night. The temps were going up into the upper 30's low 40's with rain most of the day and around 4 this morning I heard thunder and lightening and I thought I'd better check the pump downstairs. Well, when I turned on the light, this is what I saw:

About 4" of water!! Oh I was sooo upset. Paul kept apologizing and I kept telling him that it wasn't his fault. I was scared watching him trying different outlets and plugging in the big extension lamp and everything..I thought he might get electrocuted. That puts a sick feeling in your stomach. We both were pretty sick all morning with it all. Luckily, there wasn't too much damage. Just a few scrapbooking items and some computer paper. We have great neighbors and borrowed 2 de-humidifiers and hopefully it will dry out soon.
I'm babysitting the kids tomorrow and I sure hope it's a better day.

A Scrappy Weekend

I had some mojo this weekend and scrapped a couple of layouts. I love the school bus on this one that I made with my Cricut.

I had lots of fun creating this. I can't believe my baby is 26 years old!

I also finished this one of Logan. I've had this picture now since 2006 and finally decided to just go for it. I've always been a little intimidated by it but the other day I came across this blue paper by Basic Grey and the picture was lying on my desk and I had what Oprah would call an "ah ha" moment.

Busy week

Wow, what a busy week I've had. Babysat the kids on Tuesday and took Wendy to the airport. Ran back and forth between the assisted living (AL) and the office both on Wednesday and Thursday. Max and Erma's on Wednesday for a fundraiser my gf is having. She's running a marathon for the Lukemia Society. Fatheads Bar & Grill on Thursday for Jenn's birthday celebration. I can't believe my baby is 26! Usually I help my friend Peggy (she's on the right)  with scrapbooking on Thursday mornings. She has early onset Alzhiemers Disease (she turns 59 in March) and wants to scrap as much as possible before she no longer can. We switched days this week with Friday because I wanted to help the old folks at the AL with some crafts on Thursday. Needless to say, we had a bad snow storm yesterday so I didn't leave the house all day. I did manage to get a couple of pics from the sunroom of a squirrel just having a ball in the backyard trying to get some birdseed buried in the snow.

Brrr!

After yesterday's blustery, winter mix of sleet, snow and rain, I woke up this morning to ice everywhere! Once the sun came out it was gorgeous!! All the different color prisms bouncing off the trees were amazing! I wish it was a little warmer, I would have ventured out with Nick (my camera). Drove my sister to the airport this morning since she's going down to MS on some business with FEMA and to visit some family. Then I babysat the kiddos. We played with balloons and chased them around the living room trying not to let them touch the ground. It was fun. Then headed over to their house to read and nap. Logan didn't want anything to do with a nap and was being quite ornery about it. After hearing him say "NO" adamantly to me a couple of times, I decided he needed a time out. I explained that he's not to say no to grownups that he knows, like his mom and dad and MiMi and Grandpa. He told me his dad says no to his mom all the time. I said they're married. He thought for a moment and asked me "am I married MiMi"? No, I told him. He said "I need to be married". This whole time really took a lot of effort on my part not to crack up.

Recaping is a good idea

I've decided to post some photos and recap 2010 from about May or so, mainly because alot has happened that I like to talk about. I actually stole the idea from my friend Andrea (I don't think she'll mind). Soooooo,

                        MAY:
Eric, Jessie, Logan, Emmy and their dog Lucy
Back in May Eric and family moved here from VA. What a blessing!! We're so excited to have them living close to us!

Steve and Logan playing Rockband!
                            JUNE:

My birthday!
Having the grandkids around for my birthday was the best present ever!!

Garage sale loot!
Not having Logan and Emersyn living close by, we needed toys and "stuff" fast! We went garage sale shopping one Saturday afternoon and took $100 and loaded up the van. We couldn't have gotten half of what we did at the store for the price we paid.

                           JULY:

                       AUGUST:
Emmy turns 2!
                             SEPTEMBER:

Me, Kellie and her mom Cindy.
September turned out to be a fabulous month for me. I met some friends in person that I had only communicated with online. 2 scrapping buddies I met on 2 Peas in a bucket, Kellie and her mom Cindy both are wonderful people.

Nylene, Toni, Cindy, Theresa, me, Diane, Tammy, Wanda and Tina.
Cindy & I went to Scrapfest at the Mall of America and met 7 other friends from 2peas (and one friend of a friend Diane). How blessed am I???

                    OCTOBER:

The Gang
We got to go Trick Or Treating for the 1st time with the kids this year! That's me in the back as the witch! What fun!!

                        NOVEMBER:

Joe, Aunt Gert and Uncle Ralph
I can't believe I didn't take pics of the food!! I won't forget next year since I beat myself up over that this year!

Me & Paul post race!
My first race I ran a 5k on Thanksgiving Day 2010. I see lots more races in my future!

                    DECEMBER:

Another Tuesday!

I didn't write yesterday but I was going to and got side tracked. Paul was so sweet to leave me a nice card with some Rocher Chocolates in the bathroom and he even got Wendy a little bag of Truffles. The kids came over with Valentine cards and little chocolates..it was so cute of them. When they got here, they both yelled "Happy Valentines Day"!! Then this morning when Eric dropped off Emmy, she walks in the backdoor and announces "Happy Valentines Day"!! again. I said I'm all for that!!

Logan was a little emotional today. Cried this afternoon when I tried to get him to take a nap and said he wants to be a grown-up really bad! I hugged him and let him watch some tv and relax. I asked him if he knew what relaxed meant and he said that's when you lay down but keep your eyes open. Yep.

So, off to make some dinner.

What's up today!

Well, this is my very first blog post. Hopefully I'll have a lot to say and share in the days, months and years ahead. Not much going on this Sunday but I do hope to scrap a page.

Lately there's a big gray cat hanging around our house. We noticed him (I call him a him because he's a bit of brute) about a month ago when Kitty (that's Kitty above) was sitting in the front window and this cat just attacked the window! I mean he seriously attacked it, like there wasn't even glass there! So, yesterday afternoon I see this cat in the backyard getting a drink of water from the birdfeeder and then a few minutes later I see him lounging on the front porch rail. Toby (below) decides to look out the front window and that's
the first time he ever saw the "mystery" cat and of course that cat attacked the window again and poor Toby didn't know what to make of that! He just ran from the window as fast as he could. So, Paul has convinced me to let Winston go out and chase Mystery Cat next time he comes around. I just hope Winston can convince him not to come around here anymore.
